We hope everyone is enjoying their cabbage, fennel, eggplant, peppers, carrots, squash, and lettuce from yesterday.
Last week at the farm we were been busy bringing in a bumper crop of garlic, to be stored and dried for later in the season. We also had a delivery of trial kale seed from Cornell, which is being trialed for all sorts of traits, like heat/cold tolerance, disease resistance, yield & taste. Some of our heirloom tomato plants are starting to bear fruit, too, although it may still be a few weeks before we’re hitting full production.
In this week’s shares (the week of July 10th), expect some of the following veggies, depending on what’s available:
As always you can also find these updates on the Norwich Meadows Farm CSA Facebook Group.
Have a great week!
Our farmers have arranged to deliver our veggies, fruit & eggs on Wednesday next week due to Tuesday being the July 4th holiday. We’ll be in the garden behind Abrons Art Center instead of the amphitheater. Details on how exactly to find us and other updates will be be in our weekly email.
We need volunteers:
If you can volunteer next Wednesday, please sign up. We’ve added spots for July 5th to our volunteer Sign Up at http://signup.com/go/hPMnSQn
Why the 5th?
The short answer is that you can’t stop plants from growing, so our veg is getting harvested next week, no matter what.
Hear about the current state of farming from our farmer, Zaid Kurdieh, and a panel on WNYC last week.
Egg shares are double today (remember to get your make up eggs from last week).
Extras for Sale today:
Fruit starts next week

Lily has extended the deadline to sign up for her 16 week flower share this year. The new deadline is June 27th.
For 16 weeks, flower share members will receive a loosely-arranged, fresh seasonal bouquet of approximately 20-30 stems, reflecting the bright colors and sweet scents of summer.
Each bouquet includes annual and perennial flowers, foliage and fresh herbs, and comes wrapped in paper labelled with the member’s name.
All flowers are organically grown and freshly cut, so you can expect your bouquet to last a full week.
Please see details below, and feel free to contact Lilly with any questions!
